Seventeen Aggies Set to Compete at World Athletics Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Seventeen Aggies will be competing for their respective countries at the World Athletics Outdoor Championships, beginning July 15-24 at Hayward Field.
Six donned the Maroon & White during the 2022 track & field season, including Deborah Acquah (women's long jump, Ghana), Lamara Distin (women's high jump, Jamaica), Brandon Miller (men's 800m, USA), Moitalel Mpoke (men's 400m hurdles, Kenya), Emmanuel Yeboah (men's 4x100m, Ghana) and Charokee Young (women's 400m, 4x400m relay pool, Jamaica).
Three Texas A&M former student-athletes enter the meet as world-leaders in their respective events. Tokyo Olympic 100m silver medalist Fred Kerley tops the globe at 9.76, while boasting the fourth fastest time in the 200m at 19.80. On the women's side, double Olympic gold medalist and American record holder Athing Mu has the fastest time in the 800m at 1:57.01, while fellow American record holder Maggie Malone claims the top mark in the javelin at 215-7/65.73m.
On the men's side of the 800m, Miller makes his Team USA debut, while Donavan Brazier defends his 2019 World Championship title. Miller took home the bronze medal at the NCAA Championships and added another third-place finish at the USATF Championships.
Bryce Deadmon will represent the United States as part of the men's 4x400m relay pool after his sixth place finish in the 400m at the USATF Championships. Deadmon contributed as a member of the gold medal 4x400m team at the Tokyo Olympics and earned a bronze medal as part of the 4x400m mixed relay.
Other former student-athletes competing include Shamier Little (women's 400m hurdles, USA), Tahar Triki (men's triple jump, Algeria), Natosha Rogers (women's 10,000m, USA), Will Williams (men's long jump, USA), Jacob Wooten (men's pole vault, USA) and Lindon Victor (men's decathlon, Grenada).
