
Get to Know: Mya Perez

Freshman Mya Perez joined the Aggies this summer. The Norco, California, native, varsity lettered all four years at Norco High School. As a senior she blasted 13 home runs and 46 RBI, while averaging .451 at the plate and played in the Alliance All-Star game.
Get to know one of the newest Aggies below.

Entering your freshman season, how has the transition been leaving home?
“Leaving home was kind of hard at first, but being with a team that surrounded me with love and a good coaching staff really helped me settle in while being away from home.”
You wear No. 24, is that number significant to you?
“Yes. I was originally 27 but 24 is my brother’s number and I wanted to stick with 24 for him.”
Do you have any pregame rituals?
"I like to wear my hair in a slicked back ponytail and in bubbles with the bow."

What are your hobbies besides softball?
“Movie nights and game nights.”
What is better In-n-Out or Whataburger?
“In-N-Out is ten times better. Whataburger is just so plain and boring and In-N-Out is amazing.”
What is your favorite artist or band and what song stays stuck in your head?
“I love Drake and TSU by Drake is always in my head.”

You come from a softball family where your brother, dad and grandfather played men’s fastpitch. How was that experience growing up in a competitive softball family?
“It was a blessing because I always had people to look up to. There was always family members that I could practice with and be around family that understood the game like I did.”
You competed in a home run derby and beat Jocelyn Alo, what was that experience like?
“It was a once in a lifetime experience. It was really fun getting to know the girls around me and Jocelyn Alo herself.”
