Texas A&M Completes Twin Bill Sweep of Top 20 Opponents

CLEARWATER, Fla. – After beating No. 15 Arizona, 2-1, in the morning game, the Texas A&M softball team completed the twin bill sweep defeating No. 20 UCF, 7-0, Friday night at the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational.
Led by freshman Riley Valentine's two home runs and five RBI, the Aggies secured their second top 20 win on the day. It marked the first time the Aggies beat two ranked opponents in the same day since February 23, 2018, when they took down No. 5 Oregon, 3-1, and No. 19 Cal, 5-1, at the Mary Nutter Classic.
Junior Trinity Cannon was the first Aggie to contribute blasting a solo shot to left field in the top of the first, while Julia Cottrill scored following a single and a trio of wild pitches in the third.
Senior Shaylee Ackerman handled business in the circle registering her first career seven-inning shutout striking out four, while giving up only three hits and one walk.
