A&M Tops UIW In First Homestand

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M women's swimming & diving team opened its season on Friday, delivering a sweep of events against UIW, 174-102.
The team of Jordan Buechler, Charlotte Longbottom, Olivia Theall and Chloe Stepanek began the day with a victory in the 200 medley relay, registering a time of 1.41.91, as A&M secured the top four spots in the relay.
Longbottom, Theall and Stepanek claimed individual wins in the 200 breast (2.18.08), 100 fly (53.82), and 100 free (50.09), respectively.
Two freshmen opened their collegiate careers with wins. Miranda Grana took first in the 50 free with a 23.27. Katie Walker set the tone for her season with a top finish in the 200 fly (1.59.52).
A duo of Aggie divers notched personal best scores on the springboards. Joslyn Oakley kicked the season off on the right foot setting a new best mark on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 322.43. Mayson Richards shattered her previous high score on the 3-meter, posting a 342.30. Out of six total diving participants, the Aggies filled the top five spots in each event.
Oakley, Richards, Payton Props and Chloe McKnight booked their ticket to the NCAA Zones, with four reaching the standard on the 1-meter and a trio on the 3-meter.

The Aggies hit the road to Columbia to take on conference foe South Carolina and Virginia Tech in a double dual meet, Oct. 7. The Maroon & White are also set to host Tennessee the weekend of Oct. 27 for swim & dive reunion.
