No. 6 Texas A&M Travels to LSU
Jan 19, 2024 | Men's Swimming and Diving
BATON ROUGE, La. -- The No. 6 Texas A&M men's swimming & diving team remains on the road this week, traveling to LSU Saturday, Jan. 20 for a 12 p.m. dual meet at the LSU Natatorium.
The Aggies boast a 7-0 record on the season and are coming off a 175-125 win over TCU on the road last weekend. A&M got out to a slow start against the Horned Frogs, but early top finishes from Baylor Nelson in the 1000 free (9:04.41) and Thomas Shomper in the 100 back (47.59), along with the divers posting the top three scores on the 1-meter helped A&M hang around and position itself for victory.
Diving has continued to be a highlight for the Aggies throughout the season, most recently securing the top three spots on both springboards in the win over the Horned Frogs. Victor Povzner led the way and earned his second SEC Male Diver of the Week accolade of the year after sweeping the springboards for the first time this season with a score of 390.85 on the 1-meter and 427.10 on the 3-meter.
The meet with LSU will be the first SEC opponent A&M has faced since taking down then-No. 7 Tennessee, 171.5-111.5, at home at the end of October. This will also be the second meeting between the Aggies and Tigers this season after facing off at the Art Adamson Invitational. A&M won its annual invitational with 1,469 points, while LSU placed second with 991.5 points. Saturday's meet will be the first of 2024 for the Tigers, who are searching for their first dual meet win of the season.
Live results will be available on Meet Mobile and streaming can be found here.
