
No. 18 Men’s Tennis Dominates Georgia Southern, 6-1

ATLANTA – The No. 18 Texas A&M men's tennis team took down the Georgia Southern Eagles, 6-1, on Thursday at the Byers Tennis Complex.
"I really liked the energy we showed in doubles," head coach Steve Denton said. "I am proud of Grant, Lathan and Brayden for getting wins in their first college match. I want to thank Georgia Tech for allowing us to get some indoor time."
The Aggies came out in dominant fashion against the Eagles as they claimed the doubles point with three victories from the A&M doubles teams. Lathan Skrobarcek/Kenner Taylor went to work against Julia Calac/Alex Suk on court 3, defeating the duo, 6-1. Raphael Perot/Tiago Pires continued the momentum as the pair beat Pol del Castillo/Matthew Mitchell on court 2 (6-3). Concluding the doubles point for A&M was Giulio Perego/Togan Tokac who secured a victory over Judson Blair/Pierre Mouesca on court 1 (6-3).
After the doubles win, Grant Lothringer secured the first singles win of the day, winning in straight sets against Suk on court 6 (6-1, 6-1). Giulio Perego came back from behind on court 3 and took down Judson Blair in a three-set battle (4-6, 6-0, 6-3). Clinching the match for the Maroon & White was freshman Brayden Michna, who got the better of Matthew Mitchell on court 5 (6-2, 2-6, 6-3).
The teams played out the remaining matches after the Aggies clinched with Perot beat Pierre Mouesca on court 1 (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) and freshman Pires added the last win of the day on court 4 against Julia Calac (6-4, 4-6, 7-5).
The Aggies return to the court in Athens, Georgia, on Sunday, Jan. 28 for ITA Kickoff Weekend. The first match will be against Auburn and then they will take on either Georgia or Louisiana on Monday.
