Aggies looking to charge up SEC standings with four matches remaining.
TUSCALOOSA – The Texas A&M women's soccer team looks to climb back over the .500 mark in league action, traveling to play the Alabama Crimson Tide in a 6 p.m. match Sunday.
The Aggies enter play at Alabama Soccer Stadium with an 8-6-0 overall mark. Texas A&M sits in sixth place in the SEC standings, needing a positive result to stay in the upper half of the league ledger.
The Aggies own a 9-4-2 edge in the all-time series against Alabama. The Crimson Tide won the initial contest, 3-1, in 1995, but the Maroon & White reeled off five consecutive wins, including their first three as SEC brethren by a combined tally of 12-0. The series has tightened up in recent years with A&M holding a 4-3-2 edge over the last nine contests.
Last year the Aggies toppled then No. 19 Alabama, 3-1, at Ellis Field. Gianna Paul scored for Alabama at the 52:25 mark, but in the next 3:37, Texas A&M answered back with goals by Taylor Pounds and Mia Pante. Jazmine Wilkinson added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute.
