Aggies head to prestigious Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 18. Texas A&M men's golf team heads east to participate in the inaugural Qubein Cup at prestigious Sedgefield Country Club Monday and Tuesday.
Sedgefield, the site of the PGA Tour's annual Wyndham Championship, plays at par 70 and 7,130 yards. The event marks the first time the High Point men's golf team is hosting a tournament. The event is named for the High Point President Dr. Nido Qubein.
The tournament features a 13-team field with Texas A&M participating as the SEC's lone representative. Three Big Ten teams will tee it up, including Michigan, Nebraska and Penn State, while the ACC is represented by Virginia Tech. Other teams in the field include College of Charleston, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, Colorado State, Davidson, Furman, High Point and UNC Wilmington.
Texas A&M's lineup is headed by Golf Channel Preseason All-American Phichaksn Maichon who enters the fray slotted No. 12 in the PGA TOUR University rankings. He is joined by Wheaton Ennis, Michael Heidelbaugh, Aaron Pounds and Jack Usner. Jacob Sosa is participating as an individual, making his debut as an Aggie.
Monday's shotgun start is slated for 8 a.m. Tuesday's action features tee times from No. 1 and No. 10 beginning at 7:30 a.m.

COURSE
A vision of fabled course architect Donald Ross, Sedgefield Country Club features undulating greens and rolling fairways. The course underwent a $3 million restoration project in 2007, transforming the layout back to Ross' original intent. Sedgefield, with its iconic Tudor-style clubhouse has host the Wyndham Championship since 2008. It served as host of the Greater Greensboro Open off-and-on between 1938 and 1976. A who's who of golf have one on the legendary loop, including Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, Gary Player, Chi-Chi Rodriguez.
