Aggies Hire Mylnikov as Assistant Coach

BRYAN COLLEGE-STATION – The Texas A&M women's tennis team added Tommy Mylnikov to its staff as an assistant coach, head coach Mark Weaver announced Wednesday.
"I am delighted to announce Tommy will be joining our coaching staff here at Texas A&M," Weaver said. "He had an excellent playing career and has a great knowledge and perspective of the game both as a player and as a coach. Along with James Wilson, I couldn't be any happier with the quality of our coaching staff going forward."
Mylnikov began his tennis journey in Canada before moving to Florida at a young age to train at IMG Academy, where he played for 10 years. He was a top ranked junior, ranking as high as No. 4 by TennisRecruiting.net. Mylnikov played at Texas Tech for four years (2015-2019) on line one, where he led the Red Raiders to their first ever Big 12 championship.
After Tech, Mylnikov went on to play professionally. His biggest victories came against Frances Tiafoe, Alexander Zverev, Borna Coric and Cam Norrie. The Manitoba, Canada native has also trained under many notable coaches throughout his career. As a junior and pro he was coached by Nick Bollettieri, Brad Gilbert, Glen Weiner, Pat Harrison and Dante Bottini and at Texas Tech he was coached by James Wilson, Brett Masi and Daniel Whitehead.
"I am honored to receive the opportunity to coach at Texas A&M," Mylnikov said. "I want to thank Mark and James along with everyone else behind the scenes who made this possible. I could not be more excited to start my college coaching career and can't think of a better place to do it. Gig 'em."
Mylnikov earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and management from Texas Tech in 2019. He added a master's degree in business, management, marketing and related support services from the University of Oklahoma in 2023 after serving two years as director of operations for the Sooners' men's tennis team.
