MEET PREVIEW: Tiger Paw Invitational & David Hemery Valentine Invitational

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M track & field program splits travel this weekend between the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, and David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston.
Last Time Out
The Aggies are coming off another successful weekend, as they closed their first home slate at the new R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor Track & Field facility. A&M added 14 event wins across the two day meet, as Ushan Perera and Nissi Kabongo led the field squad sweeping the high jumps, while Joniar Thomas won the women's long jump.
Moving to the oval, A&M swept three event groups including the men's and women's 4x400m relays, the mile events and the 3,000m's. Camryn Dickson added her second event win of the year in the women's 60m, while Kennedy Wade and Jermaisha Arnold won the 400m events on the first and second day, respectively. Sam Whitmarsh made his indoor debut and claimed the 800m win and Shewaye Johnson followed suit in the women's 5,000m.

The Maroon & White travel their sprint, mid-distance and field groups to Clemson where they will face another loaded field.
A&M will be led by four members who currently rank at the top of the conference in their respective events. Bowerman Watchlist member, Lamara Distin ranks first in the SEC and second in the nation in the women's high jump following her lone performance this season in high jump at the Ted Nelson Invitational where she soared over 1.94m/6-4.25. Connor Schulman and Ja'Qualon Scott pace the league in the men's 60m hurdles, both running 7.68 at the Razorback invitational where they secured a 1-2 finish. Finally, Heather Abadie holds the highest clearance in the women's pole vault, which she also set at the Razorback Invitational on her way to the A&M program record in the event at 4.38m/14-4.5.
David Hemery Valentine Invitational
The distance squad makes the trip to Boston for the second-consecutive year to compete among a large field of the nations best.
Cooper Cawthra leads the men's side, as he returns to the mile event following his program record and sub four-minute time (3:59.05) set at the Razorback Invitational. Avery Perkins highlights the women's mile group following her event win at the Charlie Thomas Invitational where she debuted on the all-time performers list at No. 7 following her time of 4:50.02.
