
Equestrian Garners Eight All-SEC Honors and One Special Award

BIRMINGHAM - The Texas A&M equestrian team garnered eight All-SEC honors and Tana McKay was named the SEC Co-Coach of the Year, as the league announced its awards for the 2024 season Thursday afternoon.
After guiding the Aggies to a 9-4 record, 4-2 in conference, and the SEC Championship Final, McKay garnered her first SEC Coach of the Year award.
For the second time in their careers, Cori Cansdale and Hanna Olaussen earned spots on the All-SEC team for Horsemanship. Cansdale posted a 8-3-1 record on the year to go along with two Most Outstanding Performer awards and a team-high score of 78. Olaussen logged a 7-3-2 record and one MOP on the season.
In Reining, Mattie Gustin received All-SEC honors after racking up an 8-3-1 record and two MOP honors in her first year as a starter. The junior was also named an Ariat First Team All-American by the NCEA earlier in the week.
Keesa Luers joined Gustin on the All-SEC Team for Reining after logging a 7-4-1 record on the year to go along with two MOP honors and a spot on the All-SEC Championship Team.
Rylee Shufelt earned her first All-SEC selection of her career in Flat after posting an 9-4 record. The junior also totaled one MOP honor on the year.
Rookie standouts, Kate Egan and Ali Treuting, garnered spots on the SEC All-Freshman team for Fences. Egan completed the season with a 8-5 record and a team-high three MOP honors, which also tied the freshman program record. Treuting wrapped up her rookie campaign with a 7-4-1 record and 2 MOPs. In her last ride in the SEC Championship Final, she set a new school record with a score of 94.7.
Devon Thomas, who currently serves as the Vice President of Selfless Service for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, was selected to the SEC Community Service team. For the year, Thomas has poured in 47.5 hours of community service at a variety of events that include The Big Event, REVved Up to Read, AggiesCan and various Twin City Mission opportunities.
