May 24, 2024 | Women's Golf
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Texas A&M's Adela Cernousek was tabbed as a Women's Golf Coaches Association First Team All-American after her historic junior campaign that was capped off by winning the 2024 Individual National Championship, the organization announced Friday.
Cernousek shot a 12-under 276, which was the lowest winning score since 2016, to claim the individual national title by three strokes. The reigning national champion currently ranks No. 4 on the CLIPPD/Scoreboard Ranking for collegiate golfers and No. 31 on the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
The Antibes, France, native earned All-SEC First Team honors during the 2023-24 campaign and registered a program-record 69.94 stroke average, becoming the first Aggie women's golfer to shoot below 71.00 for a year. Cernousek posted eight top-six finishes, including her first collegiate win at NCAAs. She also set the record for par-or-better rounds in a season, carding 31 with 15 straight to end the year.
On May 14, the junior won the U.S. Women's Open Qualifier in Pearland, Texas, and will compete at the 2024 U.S. Women's Open in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, May 30-June 2. She will also take part in the 2024 Arnold Palmer Cup (July 5-7), European Amateur Team Championship (July 9-13), Dana Open (July 18-21) and 124th U.S. Women's Amateur (Aug. 5-11) this summer before her senior season begins.
Cernousek is the first Aggie to earn All-America first team honors since Maddie Szeryk in 2018 and is the seventh golfer in program history to receive first-team recognition. Of the 12 golfers on the first team, five are from the SEC, matching the PAC-12 for the most individuals from a conference on the list.
