MADISON – The Texas A&M volleyball team downed Troy to conclude its non-conference schedule Sunday afternoon at the UW Field House, 3-1 (22-25, 25-14, 25-15, 25-18).
The Aggies (9-1) wrapped up their 10-match non-conference slate with a four-set win over Troy (5-5). A&M rallied from an opening set loss to win three-straight frames behind another balanced showing. The group hit .297 on offense, paired with 13 blocks to secure the bounce-back victory.
An Aggie run opened the match, as they raced out to a 5-1 advantage. Troy answered with a streak of its own to lead at the media timeout, 15-11. Despite a late rally from A&M, the Trojans held their lead to take the opener, 25-22.
Needing a response, the Maroon & White did that with a 13-8 start to the frame which forced a Trojan timeout. The Aggies continued to build on their lead behind Lednicky's seven second-set kills, as they piled on a 12-6 run to knot the match (25-14), 1-1.
Carrying the momentum into the third frame was A&M, winning the race to 10 as Troy called its first timeout (10-7). The Maroon & White kept their foot on the gas, extending their advantage as the Trojans burned their second break, 16-10. Leaving nothing to chance, A&M ripped off another 9-5 streak to take the set (25-15) and lead in the match, 2-1.
The teams traded points in the fourth, as they were knotted at eight. A&M forged some rhythm pushing out to a three-point lead at the media timeout, 15-12. The Trojans kept it close; however, the Aggies wouldn't be stopped as they won the frame (25-18) and match, 3-1.
