BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M volleyball team hosts Missouri for its second conference match of the season in Reed Arena Sunday with first serve set for 2 p.m.
The Aggies play their second-straight match at home, following a hard-fought loss to No. 8 Texas in the conference opener. The 12th Man showed why they're a nationally famous fan base last time out, as they helped shatter the program record attendance with 9,236 fans in the stands, besting the previous record by 2,414. The total also set a new NCAA volleyball regular-season attendance benchmark in the state of Texas.
Dominance at the net was the takeaway from the match with the Longhorns, as A&M blocked 14 swings as a team compared to Texas' five. Logan Lednicky paced the Maroon & White, matching her career high with eight on the night, while Ifenna Cos-Okpalla and Morgan Perkins followed right behind with seven each.
The Maroon & White face off with Missouri for the 57th time in their history, with A&M boasting a 34-22 record all-time versus the Tigers. Missouri got the better of A&M in both matchups last season, claiming a pair of 3-1 decisions with one at home and one on the road.
Offense stands out for both teams, as the Tigers ranks first in the league in kills per set with 14.57, while A&M is right behind with 14.41. Both team's offenses are run through efficient setting, as both programs are tied for second in the SEC, as they dish 13.67 per frame.
Lednicky continued to show her versatility as a weapon, as she had 17 kills to go along with her eight blocks in the match versus Texas. She has now recorded 15+ kills in the last six matches and has surpassed double-digit kills in 10 of 11 fixtures this season.
Ava Underwood got the start in the libero jersey to open conference play, setting a season-high 18 digs in the match with the Longhorns. Her total in the match pushed her beyond 100 digs on the season (106).
