Tokac Leads the Aggies at the Big 12-SEC Challenge

WACO – The Texas A&M men's tennis team went 5-4 on the opening day of the Big 12-SEC Challenge at the Hurd Tennis Center Friday.
The Maroon & White started the day with doubles, picking up two wins. In his debut action as an Aggie, freshman Kriish Tyagi and his partner senior Ethan Silva came back from a 3-0 deficit in the tiebreaker to clinch their match against Arman Zamani and Calvin Baierl of Baylor, 8-7 (5). Senior Togan Tokac and redshirt sophomore Ritesh Patil claimed a win against fellow SEC due Lucas Marionneau and Mariano Dedura-Palomer from Texas, 8-5.
The Aggies split even in singles, going 3-3 on the day. Junior Lathan Skrobarcek only dropped two games against Thiago Guglieri from Texas Tech, 6-2, 6-0. Tokac took down Matthias Uwe Kask of Arizona State in straight-sets, 6-3, 6-2. Sophomore Alex Frusina rounded out the singles wins with a victory over Arizona's Glib Sekachov 6-3, 7-6 (4).
Action continues tomorrow with doubles matches starting at 9 a.m. followed by singles.
