BALTIMORE, Md. – Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Top 25 list, the organization announced Wednesday.
Reed has been instrumental in leading the Aggies to a 5-0 start, their best since 2016. The Nashville, Tennessee, native ranks No. 6 in the SEC in total offense, averaging 281.0 yards per game. He has thrown for 1,256 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 149 yards on the ground. His 251.2 passing yards per game rank fifth in the league and 33rd nationally, while his 14.6 yards per completion stands seventh in the country.
The redshirt sophomore has guided an Aggie offense that ranks among the top 25 nationally in total yards, averaging 466.8 yards per contest. Texas A&M's passing attack has shown one of the most significant improvements in FBS this season, increasing by 90 yards per game through the air, which ranks as the second-largest gain in the SEC and seventh-best among Power Five programs and Notre Dame.
Texas A&M continues SEC play Saturday as they host Florida at 6 p.m. at Kyle Field on ESPN.
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is presented annually to the nation's top senior or upperclassman quarterback who is on track to graduate with their class, embodying not only outstanding on-field performance but also character, citizenship, and leadership.
