Four Aggies Head to ITA Central Sectionals

The Texas A&M men's tennis team has four Aggies competing for spots in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships at the ITA Central Sectionals at Michigan's Varsity Tennis Center Thursday through Sunday.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Texas A&M men's tennis team has four Aggies competing for spots in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships at the ITA Central Sectionals at Michigan's Varsity Tennis Center Thursday through Sunday.
 
Senior Togan Tokac, juniors Kholo Montsi and Tiago Pires and sophomore Alex Frusina will all compete in the singles bracket. For doubles, Montsi will partner with Frusina while Pires will team up with Tokac.
 
Pires will take on Ohio State's Bryce Nakashima, while Tokac goes up against fellow Buckeye Alexander Bernard. Frusina takes on Tulsa's Nikita Volonski, and Montsi faces SEC opponent Jakub Vrba of Arkansas. Montsi and Frusina are set to battle Tulsa's Calum Jestin and Connor Thomas Doig. Pires and Tokac will challenge Baylor's Luc Koenig and Devin Badenhorst.
 
Frusina is coming off a semifinal run at the ITA Texas Regional. Tokac and Montsi reached the quarterfinals while Pires run ended in the round of 32. The doubles tandem of Montsi and Frusina were consolation runner-ups at the ITA All-American Championship in September.
 
Six singles players, semifinalists and two quarterfinal playoff winners, and three doubles teams, finalists and third place, will advance to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in Orlando at the USTA National Campus from November 18-23.
