
Reed Named a Davey O’Brien Award Semifinalist

FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed has been named a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, the organization announced Wednesday.
Reed has led Texas A&M to a 9-0 record for the first time since 1992 and a 6-0 mark in SEC play for the first time. The Nashville, Tennessee, native has been at the center of an explosive Aggie offense that ranks 17th nationally in total offense (459.8 yards per game) and sits among the nation's top 30 in passing efficiency, scoring, red zone production and time of possession. Reed's dual-threat ability places him 21st nationally in total offense, averaging 285.7 yards per game and 8.0 yards per play, the ninth-best mark among FBS quarterbacks. The redshirt sophomore has accounted for a passing and rushing touchdown in five games this season and has totaled 25 touchdowns (19 passing, 6 rushing), tying for 12th in the country in points responsible for (16.7 per game). Additionally, Reed averages 243.7 passing yards per contest while ranking ninth in yards per completion (14.0) and 20th in yards per attempt (8.7).
For the sixth-straight year, fan voting on social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) will earn players bonus selection committee votes. Second-round fan voting will begin immediately following the semifinalist announcement. The Davey O'Brien Foundation will announce the three finalists Tuesday, Nov. 25. The 2025 Davey O'Brien Award winner will be unveiled live on ESPN on Friday, Dec. 12, during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback and is the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award.
