
Howell, Reed Tabbed Walter Camp Player of the Year Semifinalists

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Texas A&M redshirt senior defensive end Cashius Howell and redshirt sophomore quarterback Marcel Reed were named Walter Camp Player of the Year semifinalists, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced Wednesday.
Howell's 10.5 sacks on the year leads the SEC and ranks tied for third nationally. The Kansas City, Missouri, native has been disruptive in the trenches all season, having logged at least 1.0 sack in six-of-nine games and ranks second in the country in sacks per game (1.17). The edge rusher's 11.5 tackles for loss mark are the third-most in the SEC this season. Howell has been tabbed SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week four times this year and was honored as the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week after recording a sack on three consecutive plays against Utah State.
Under Reed's direction, the Texas A&M offense ranks 12th in the country in points per game (37.8) and 17th in total yards of offense per game (459.8). The Nashville, Tennessee, native ranks 21st nationally in total offense (285.7 yards per game) and is third in the SEC in total points responsible for (150). Reed has tossed for 2,193 passing yards and 19 touchdowns to go along with 378 rushing yards and six scores. The Aggies' signal-caller has registered multiple scores in eight games this season and has logged at least one passing and rushing score in five contests. The semifinalist distinction adds to a list of midseason honors for Reed, who was also named a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Award and the Maxwell Award.
