
Four Aggies Named to All-SEC First Team

BIRMINGHAM – The Texas A&M volleyball team landed a conference-high four athletes on the All-SEC First Team, the league office announced Wednesday.
The Aggies captured a league-leading four spots on the All-SEC First Team in the annual postseason awards. Logan Lednicky landed on the all-conference list for the fourth-straight year, while Ifenna Cos-Okpalla ensured back-to-back appearances. Maddie Waak and Kyndal Stowers rounded out the honorees, each garnering their first All-SEC honor.
Lednicky spearheaded the Maroon & White's offense during the regular season, pacing the group in kills and points with 333 and 381.0, respectively. The Sugar Land, Texas, native's efficiency also jumped off the stat sheet, hitting at .312 percent on the year while logging seven games at over a .400 clip including a career high .606 percent versus Arkansas in a 3-0 sweep. Showing her versatility, she added 67 blocks on the defensive side of the net, as well as turning in 236 digs which propelled her to 10 double-doubles this season.
Cos-Okpalla remained the Aggies' enforcer this season, leading the conference in blocks for the third-straight year after racking up a staggering 146 stuffs in 88 sets of action. The middle blocker recorded 13 games this season with five or more blocks and four with 10 or more, including a season-high 13 versus Tennessee in only four sets. The Flower Mound, Texas, native impressed offensively recording 184 kills at .441 percent, while adding a new wrinkle to her game from the service line resulting in a team-high 31 aces.
Waak has set the standard for one of the most prolific offenses in the country, leading the nation with 11.48 assists per set. The senior has turned in 12 games with 40 or more assists this year, including four over 50 and a season-high 57 in a four-set barrage versus Utah State. Under her guidance, the team is hitting at a .297 clip on the season and logged a program record efficiency in a three-set SEC match in the regular-season finale versus Georgia of .525 percent. Along with her setting, she added 185 digs, 48 kills, 32 blocks and 24 aces to her impressive resume.
Stowers proved to be a valuable offseason addition for Texas A&M, as she garners her first SEC honor following a productive debut season for the Maroon & White. The redshirt-sophomore finished second in kills during the regular season, putting away 264 balls at a .266 clip. She also contributed to the programs 22 wins with 48 blocks and 13 aces to contribute 303.5 points on the year. Defensively she racked up 179 digs and was key in serve receive, finishing the year with a 2.38 passing grade which was No. 1 in the conference.
