Four Aggies Advance at ITA Central Sectionals

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Texas A&M men's tennis team advanced four Aggies across singles and doubles at the ITA Central Sectionals at Michigan's Varsity Tennis Center Thursday.
Sophomore Alex Frusina only dropped one game against Tulsa's Nikita Volonski, 6-0, 6-1, to earn his spot in the round of 16. He will next face on Michigan's Bjorn Swenson. Senior Togan Tokac picked up a win after a neck-and-neck first set and a dominating second set over Ohio State's Alexander Bernard, 7-5, 6-1. Tokac will challenge Baylor's Ioan Alexandru Chirita in the next round. Junior Tiago Pires rounds out the Aggies in the round of 16. After splitting the first two sets, Pires etched out the win over Ohio State's Bryce Nakashima, 6-4, (3) 6-7, 6-2. His next round opponent is Albert Pedrico Kravtsov of TCU.
In doubles, Frusina and partner Kholo Montsi defeated Calum Jestin and Connor Thomas Doig of Tulsa, 6-3, 6-3. The pair advances to the quarterfinals where they will take on Michigan's Max Dahlin and Bjorn Swenson.
