PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Texas A&M men's basketball team remains on the road this week for the ACC/SEC Challenge, taking on Pitt at the Petersen Events Center Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The Aggies are coming on a dominant, 95-59, win over Florida State Friday in Tampa. Rubén Dominguez led the way with 21 points, including seven 3's, while Rashaun Agee added 17 points and 17 rebounds in the victory. The Maroon & White jumped out to a 16-3 lead early and never looked back, keeping a 20-plus point distance for much of the game. The Aggies had a 60-40 advantage on the boards and limited the Seminoles to just 24 points in the first half, shooting just 28.8-percent from the field in the game.
Dominguez has hit his stride, scoring 15-plus points in each of the last three games, combining for 20 made 3's during that span. He ranks second nationally with 33 made 3-pointers on the year and sits in fourth averaging 4.1 3's per game. As a team, the Aggies have made at least 15 3-pointers in each of the last three games and rank seventh in the country averaging 12.1 3's per outing.
The Maroon & White's depth has continued to make big contributions as they lead the nation averaging 45.4 bench points per game. The Aggies also rank among the top-10 in the country in assists per game with 21.3 and free throws made per game with 22.0
The matchup with Pitt marks the Aggies' second appearance in the ACC/SEC Challenge, which began in 2023-24. Last season, Texas A&M topped Wake Forest, 57-44, at Reed Arena adding to a dominant showing by the SEC as the league went 14-2 in men's matchups.
Tuesday is just the second meeting between the Aggies and Panthers. The only other matchup in the series came in New Orleans in 1985 when Pitt earned a 79-62 win at the Sugar Bowl Tournament.
