Dec 04, 2025 | Football
NEW ORLEANS – Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed was named a finalist for the Manning Award, the Allstate Sugar Bowl announced Thursday.
Reed led Texas A&M to 11 regular season wins, the program's most since 1992, which included a school-record three road victories against Associated Press Top 25 opponents. He has accounted for 31 touchdowns with 25 passing and six rushing, which is tied No. 12 nationally and third in the SEC. His 25 passing touchdowns are tied 14th nationally and second in the SEC. The Nashville, Tennessee, native is averaging 8.0 yards per play, which is tied eighth nationally and second best in the SEC. His dual-threat ability has produced 50 explosive plays of 20 yards or more, with 44 coming through the air and six on the ground.
The redshirt sophomore ranks second nationally with a 14.0 yard average per completion against ranked teams and is one of four quarterbacks averaging over 8.0 yards per attempts against AP Top 25 foes. He is also averaging 299.3 yards per game against ranked opponents, which ranks fifth nationally in at least three such games.
Reed has totaled 2,932 passing yards completing 209-of-338 passes for 25 touchdowns, while adding 466 rushing yards on 89 carries for six scores.
The winner will be announced after the College Football Playoff National Championship in January. The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that takes the candidates' bowl and playoff performances into consideration in its balloting.
