No. 6 Texas A&M Opens Nine-Game Homestand with No. 24 Alabama

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 6 Texas A&M softball team is set to host No. 24 Alabama in a top 25 SEC series beginning Friday at 6 p.m. at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (24-4, 4-2 SEC) continues action Saturday at 4 p.m., while the series finale against Alabama (21-10, 1-2 SEC) is Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games can be streamed on SEC Network+ with Aggie legend and Olympian Tori Vidales as the analyst, while Chelsea Reber is play-by-play on Friday and Saturday as Will Johnson wraps up the series on Sunday.
HOME OF THE 12TH MAN
The Aggies own a 150-47 (.758) record at Davis Diamond since it opened on April 27, 2018, and 58-11 in the Ford era. Texas A&M is 39-5 the last two seasons, including an 12-3 record this year. The Aggies have posted six of the program's top 10 attendance marks this season, including a program record 2,754 against Texas Tech on March 1, after having 2,522 against George Washington on Feb. 28. In the SEC series opener against No. 3 Florida, the 12th Man totaled 6,916, marking the highest three-game series total in Davis Diamond history. The 12th Man is regarded as one of the most dedicated fan bases in the nation. The Aggies rank No. 5 in the nation averaging 2,238 per game this season.

D1 softball moved the Aggies one spot to No. 5 as Softball America kept the Maroon & White idle at No. 6 for the Week 6 polls. As of Wednesday, the Aggies rank 20th in the nation in on-base percentage (.432), No. 21 in ERA (2.23) and 23rd in WHIP (1.15). Individually, Mya Perez ranks No. 17 in RBI (37), while Perez and Amari Harper each rank 21st with eight hit-by-pitches. Emiley Kennedy's eight complete games rank No. 28 in the country.
AGGIES IN THE SEC
Under Ford, the Maroon & White have won 12-of-18 SEC series and have finished in the league's final standings five positions higher than what it was picked in each of the seasons SEC coaches preseason poll. Through two weekends of SEC action, Texas A&M ranks second with 45 hits and six stolen bases. The Aggie pitching staff ranks second in opposing batting average (.200) and strikeouts (33), while the team's fielding .976 fielding percentage is second best. Individually, Kennedy Powell's 10 hits in league play is second most, while her .500 batting average is fourth best. Emiley Kennedy leads the SEC with four starts and 29.0 innings pitched, while her 24 strikeouts are second most. Texas A&M recently swept No. 22 Auburn on The Plains, marking the first conference ranked sweep on the road since 2017. Kennedy went 2-0 on the weekend to bring her season record to 8-3. She totaled 15.0 innings of work, while striking out 14 batters and keeping opposing hitters to a .137 batting average.
ALABAMA SERIES PREVIEW
Texas A&M won the previous two series meetings with Alabama, including the three-game set in Tuscaloosa a season ago and the 2022 series at Davis Diamond. After dropping the series opener in 2024, The Aggies outscored the Crimson Tide, 26-10, to win game two, 17-6, and game three, 9-4. Of the returners, Amari Harper led the group hitting 5-for-12 with a double, two RBI and four runs in the series. Emiley Kennedy appeared in all three games, including two starts going 2-1 in 14.0 innings pitched with 12 strikeouts and holding Alabama to a .130 batting average.
