No. 12 Aggies Sink Commodores, 4-3

NASHVILLE – The No. 12 Texas A&M men's tennis claimed a seesaw affair against the Vanderbilt Commodores, 4-3, at the Currey Tennis Center on Friday.
Graduate Matthis Ross rebounded after splitting his first two sets against Hugo Coquelin to clinch the victory for the Aggies. After a dominating 4-1 start in the third set, Coquelin slowly inched back. With all eyes on court 6, veteran Ross didn't waiver, pulling out the win, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
Texas A&M (13-5, 6-1 SEC) dropped the doubles point against Vanderbilt (8-10, 1-7 SEC) to start the match after losing both courts 1 and 3.
No. 32 Theo Papamalamis kept cool after the disadvantage, going untouched in his first set, 6-0. The freshman made the match one-all after a 6-2 second set against Danil Panarin on court 1. The Commodores struck back, claiming court 4.
Senior Alan Magadan evened the score again with a win on court 2 against Nathan Cox, 6-2, 6-4. The McAllen native has yet to drop a match since joining the squad in late-February. Tiago Pires' comeback fell short on court 3 after dropping the second set tiebreaker 12-10, putting Vanderbilt one away from the win.
Junior Togan Tokac continued to be an anchor for the Maroon & White. After a neck-and-neck battle in the second set to force a tiebreaker, Tokac put the Aggies one short after defeating Henry Ruger, 6-3, 7-6(4).
