Women’s Golf Wraps up Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate
Mar 25, 2025 | Women's Golf
FORT WORTH – The No. 17 Texas A&M women's golf team finished the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate in ninth after 54 holes at the Colonial Country Club Tuesday.
"I liked how we were the last 12 holes, but we have to get off to a better start," Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "Our start was so poor that it really eliminated any chance for us to move up the board and we have to learn from that. There were still some bright spots, and I would much rather this happen now than in April or May. This will make our preparation better for the Mo and we are excited to get out and play in front of the 12th Man at Traditions in a couple of weeks."
Texas A&M competed in a field comprised of 11 of the top 20 teams in the country and five of the top 10. The Aggies shot 26-over 866 and finished ahead of teams like No. 5 USC (+37) and No. 15 Vanderbilt (+30). No. 1 Stanford took the team title at even-par 840.
Mia Nixon and Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio led the Maroon & White with both taking home a share of 19th at 4-over 214.
Vanessa Borovilos claimed a piece of 32nd with an 8-over 218 and Lauren Nguyen and Sky Sudberry rounded out the lineup tied for 60th and 69th, respectively.
The Aggies host their next tournament April 7-8 at Traditions Club. This will mark the 21st "Mo" Morial Invitational and is named in honor of Aggie women's golf great Monica Welsh. Welsh, who tragically died in an auto-mobile accident in 1992, was a four-year letter winner for the Aggies from 1978-1982. She was a two-time TAIAW All-State selection and set the then-record for low competitive round (68) in 1981 at the TAIAW State Championship.
