Aggies Clinch Series Over LMU, 6-2, Extend Winning Streak to Five Games

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 5 Texas A&M team extended its winning streak to five games beating LMU, 6-2, to clinch the non-conference series Saturday evening at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (30-5) jumped on the Lions early scoring two runs on two hits and one error in the opening frame. Kennedy Powell led off with a walk before scoring on an RBI single from Mya Perez. Mac Barbara singled to second base as Perez advanced on a fielding error by the first baseman. Koko Wooley made it a two-run game after reaching on a fielder's choice to score Perez.
The Maroon & White added a second crooked frame after Kramer Eschete doubled to left field and scored as Powell singled through the right side. Amari Harper followed with a two-run home run to right center as the Aggies led after two innings, 5-0.
LMU (14-19) threatened in the third hitting three doubles, including a pair of two-out doubles to chip at the deficit, 5-2. The Aggies extended the lead by one, 6-2, after KK Dement recorded a sac fly RBI to score Wooley in the bottom half.
Kate Munnerlyn entered the circle in the fourth inning and earned her first career win after tossing three scoreless frames with three punchies, while yielding only one walk and three hits.
Texas A&M had limited opportunities to extend its lead as the lead off batter reached base via walk in the fifth and sixth innings, before the Lions stranded three Aggies between the two frames including two in scoring position.
