Mar 06, 2025 | Baseball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Five former members of the Texas A&M baseball program have been selected to compete in the 2025 MLB Spring Breakout event, as announced Thursday morning.
The Aggies will be represented by Chris Cortez (Los Angeles Angels), Brandyn Garcia (Seattle Mariners), Will Johnston (Athletics), Braden Montgomery (Chicago White Sox) and Dustin Saenz (Washington Nationals).
MLB Spring Breakout is a four-day event showcasing baseball's future: the current stars of Minor League Baseball. The second edition will be held from March 13-16 at Grapefruit and Cactus League stadiums during Spring Training. Sixteen exhibition games will be played between teams comprised of each MLB organization's top prospects, creating a new touchpoint on the baseball calendar that celebrates the sport's budding talent.
The rosters are stacked, highlighted by 72 players on MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects list and nearly two-thirds of the 900 players on the organizational Top 30 lists. Eighteen No. 1 prospects are scheduled to participate, as are 21 players ranked No. 2 in their respective organizations.
Montgomery is the highest ranked Aggie among the MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects, checking in at No. 54. Cortez (No. 8), Garcia (No. 16) and Johnston (No. 23) are ranked among their respective club's Top 30 prospects list.
