Aggies Split Doubleheader with Liberty, Eliminated from NCAA Tournament

With its back against the wall trailing 6-0 in the first game, Texas A&M (48-11) began to chip away at the deficit in the third inning after Mac Barbara singled through the left side to score Koko Wooley. The Aggies hung crooked frames in the ensuing innings scoring six runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to lead 10-6. KK Dement led the fourth inning off with a solo blast, while Allie Enright singled and drove in Kennedy Powell to cut the deficit in half, 6-3. Wooley singled to score Powell, before Mya Perez belted a two-run homer to even the score, 6-6. Barbara followed suit with a 236-foot solo to put the Aggies in front, 7-6.
Dement singled, Enright doubled and Frankie Vrazel walked to load the bases to start the fifth inning. Kelsey Mathis walked to score Dement, followed by Powell driving in Enright and Perez reaching on a fielder's choice to lead 10-6. Liberty (50-13) scored on a two-out double in the bottom half of the sixth before the Aggies answered in the top half of the seventh after Perez singled up the middle to score Wooley, 11-7.
The Lady Flames sent the game into extra innings after scoring four runs on five hits, including a pair of runs on two outs.
A&M came out lined out to begin the eighth before Enright reached on a throwing error, Kramer Eschete walked and Mathis singled to load the bases with one out. Powell put the Aggies up a pair after sending it up the middle as Wooley grounded out to score Mathis for a 14-11 lead.
After entering the seventh inning and forcing a fly out, Sydney Lessentine sat the Lady Flames down in order to force the deciding winner-take-all game. Lessentine earned the win moving to 6-2 on the season after going 1.1 scoreless innings to close out the game.
Texas A&M jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the deciding game after Dement hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second, before adding another in the third when Harper drove in Wooley on a two-out single through the right side. Liberty chipped at the deficit with a solo jack in the fifth before exploding with a five-run sixth inning off of a two-run homer and three-run home run.
The Aggies made it a one-run game after Enright belted a solo homer in the bottom half, while Wooley drove in Eschete on an infield single to make it a 6-5 game. Emily Leavit entered the circle in the sixth and struck out the first batter she faced to end the inning, before retiring the side in order in the top of the seventh.
Down to their final three outs, Texas A&M's Harper singled with one out and was pinch run for by Scout Lovell who advanced to second after Enright walked before Liberty struck out the final Aggie batter to end A&M's season.
NOTES
- Texas A&M concluded its season with a 48-11 record, the most wins in a season since the 2008 Aggies went 57-10. The 48 wins are the fifth-most in program history.
- The 2025 team set program records in runs (432), RBI (416), doubles (99) and the second most hits (529) and the second best batting average (.343).
- KK Dement's 18 doubles tied fourth all-time for most doubles in a season in program history. Dement's two-run home run in game two was her 64th RBI of the season, the fourth most RBI in program history and the most by a freshman since 2000.
- Koko Wooley finished her career with 251 hits, the second-most hits in Texas A&M program history, behind Jennifer McFalls (1991-94) 279 hits. Her 82 career stolen bases are the fourth most in program history, tied with Jamie Hinshaw (2005-08).
- Mya Perez surpassed Josie Carter for the most RBI in a single season with 73, a record that has stood for 43 years.
- Texas A&M has hit three home runs in the same inning in back-to-back games and for the third time in a game this season. The Aggies hit multiple home runs in 17 games, while Mya Perez and KK Dement each finished with a team-best 16 home runs this season.
- Game one's six-run deficit to win 14–11 matches the Aggies' largest comeback of the season against Baylor on February 7. It marked their 17th come-from-behind victory this year.
- The Aggies are one of four teams to register 18 hits in an NCAA tournament game, while the 29 hits total for both teams in game one is the fourth most in an NCAA tournament game.
- Scorgami! game one's 14-11 victory over Liberty is the first in program history.
