May 22, 2025 | Baseball
HOOVER – Behind five strong innings from Justin Lamkin, the Texas A&M baseball team defeated No. 8 Auburn, 3-2, in the second round of the SEC Tournament Thursday morning at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
Lamkin (5-7) tossed five innings of one-run baseball to go along with five strikeouts en route to earning the win. Over his last two starts, the left-hander has allowed only one run in 14 innings of work. In relief, Clayton Freshcorn retired the final batter of the game to earn his second save of the 2025 campaign.
In the third, Terrence Kiel II opened the frame with a single and Sawyer Farr followed with a hit-by-pitch to bring Kaeden Kent to the plate. The junior delivered with a three-run homer to right to put the Aggies (30-25) on the board first. Kent's long ball marked his 13th of the season and were the lone runs of the day for the Maroon & White.
The Tigers (38-18) cut into the Texas A&M lead in the fifth with a solo homer to left. Auburn later trimmed the Aggie advantage to one with another solo home run in the ninth but back-to-back fly outs sealed the win for Texas A&M.
