Sorrell Homer Lifts Aggies to Series Win Over No. 2 LSU

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – A two-out, three-run home run off the bat of Caden Sorrell in the eighth propelled the Texas A&M baseball team to a series-clinching win, 6-4, over No. 2 LSU Sunday afternoon at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. The series victory marked the Aggies (27-20, 10-14) third over a Top 2 opponent this season.
Entering the eighth trailing 4-2, the Maroon & White pulled within one on a two-out RBI infield single from Jace LaViolette. Following a single from Wyatt Henseler, Sorrell lifted a 2-1 pitch over the wall in left center to put Texas A&M in front for the first time on the afternoon, 6-4. The junior's 10th homer of the season traveled 403 feet and left the bat at 104 mph.
In the ninth, Weston Moss (6-2) retired the side in order to seal the victory and clinch the series. The right-hander earned the win in relief after retiring nine of the 10 batters he faced in three scoreless frames. Moss also struck out two on the afternoon.
After three scoreless frames, the Tigers (38-11, 15-9) struck first in the fourth with a pair of runs courtesy of an RBI double and RBI single. In the bottom half, Texas A&M cut the deficit in half with an RBI single from Terrence Kiel II.
Kaeden Kent evened the game at 2-2 in the fifth with a solo home run into the visiting bullpen in right. The junior's 10th long ball of the season left the bat at 102 mph and traveled 340 feet.
In the sixth, LSU regained the lead, 4-2, behind a two-run homer to left.
