Jul 21, 2025 | Baseball
SEATTLE – Former Texas A&M reliever Brandyn Garcia is set to make his Major League Baseball debut after the Seattle Mariners selected his contract Monday afternoon.
Garcia, who is the organization's top left-handed pitching prospect via MLB Pipeline, will become the 66th Aggie to make their MLB Debut and the second this season following Jake Palisch (Chicago White Sox). The lefty has compiled a 5-4 record with five saves and a 3.51 ERA in 32 relief appearances between the Arkansas Travelers (Double-A) and Tacoma Rainiers (Triple-A). Garcia has also racked up 42 strikeouts to 17 walks in 33 1/3 innings.
An 11th round pick by the Mariners in the 2023 MLB Draft, Garcia has registered a 2.49 ERA in 68 career appearances in the organization's minor league system. The left-hander has also totaled 184 strikeouts in 159 1/3 innings of work.
In his lone season in Aggieland, Garcia appeared in 27 games out of the bullpen and totaled 56 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings of work. The lefty also recorded a save and limited opponents to a .213 batting average.
Garcia will become the eighth Aggie to make an appearance in the majors this season, joining Michael Helman (Texas Rangers), Stephen Kolek (San Diego Padres), Bryce Miller (Seattle Mariners), A.J. Minter (New York Mets), Palisch, Brooks Raley (New York Mets) and Michael Wacha (Kansas City Royals).
The Mariners open a three-game set with the Milwaukee Brewers Monday night at 8:40 p.m. CST at T-Mobile Park.
