No. 20 Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader Over Vanderbilt to Secure Series Win

COLLEGE STATION – No. 20 Texas A&M swept the twin-bill finale over Vanderbilt to secure its second consecutive conference series win Friday night from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies (25-6, 7-5) downed the Commodores (19-14, 6-6), 8-4, in the first game and blanked the visitors in the finale, 12-0, behind a seven-inning complete game shutout from Aiden Sims.
In the doubleheader, the Maroon & White launched six home runs and scored in 11 of 14 combined offensive frames.
Game One: Aggies 8, Commodores 4
The Aggies tallied the first run of the game as Gavin Grahovac crossed the plate on a wild pitch. Nico Partida launched a 437-foot home run to left-center field to put Texas A&M up, 3-0, in the opening frame.
The Commodores knocked back-to-back solo homers in the third to get within a run.
An errant throw by Vanderbilt's pitcher allowed a run to score for the Aggies in the fourth, but the Commodores responded in the top of the fifth with a solo home run to make it 4-3. An RBI single by Jorian Wilson extended the Maroon & White's edge to two, but Vanderbilt answered again in the sixth with a solo homer.
Texas A&M scored a run in each of the last three frames to extend the lead. Grahovac launched a solo homer in the sixth, Bear Harrison drove in a run with a two-out single in the seventh and the Aggies capitalized on a double-steal in the eighth to seal the final score at 8-4.
Weston Moss made the start for the Maroon & White, going 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on six hits. The righty punched out four batters and issued just one walk. Gavin Lyons (4-0) earned the win after working 3.2 innings of one-run ball in relief. Clayton Freshcorn closed the game with a scoreless ninth inning, punching out two.

All nine starters in the Aggie lineup logged a hit, combining for 13 hits with eight going for extra bases.
Hacopian put the Maroon & White ahead in the opening frame with a two-run jack to deep left field. In the second inning, Wilson roped a triple down the right field line and Harrison blasted an opposite-field round-tripper to put the Aggies up, 4-0.
The Maroon & White continued its offensive surge in the third inning behind a 451-foot three-run shot off the bat of Binderup. Partida made it a 9-0 game in the fourth with a two-run shot to left-center.
The Aggies entered run-rule territory in the bottom of the sixth when Sorrell drove in two runs on a sharp liner to right field. Hacopian shot a double down the left field line to put Ol' Sarge's charges up, 12-0.
