Cos-Okpalla Named SEC Player, Defensive Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M volleyball's Ifenna Cos-Okpalla was named SEC Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week following a dominant performance in the opening week of conference play, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Cos-Okpalla earned her second SEC Player of the Week honor and sixth Defensive Player of the Week accolade of her career following a pair of wins in the Aggies' first two conference games. The senior recorded 15 kills, 15 blocks and five aces in the two contests, racking up a staggering 4.07 points per set.
The Maroon & White opened league play versus No. 21 Missouri, capturing a four-set victory behind a stout defensive performance from Cos-Okpalla. The middle blocker stuffed a season-high 10 swings, making the only player in the conference to do so in the first week of league play.
She followed that up two days later versus Vanderbilt, showing her versatility with six kills hitting .455 percent while logging another five blocks. Cos-Okpalla also flashed the newest aspect to her game which came from the service line, as she registered a career-high three aces in the three-set win.
Cos-Okpalla and the Aggies head out on the road this week, as they face South Carolina in Columbia, Wednesday, Oct. 1, with first serve set for 6 p.m.
