Good morning. Fall camp rolls on and the grind is real, so we asked the guys to name their one camp survival essential. Tonight, the defending champion volleyball team gives fans a first look at this year’s squad in the Maroon & White scrimmage at Reed Arena (5:30, free admission).

It’s Tuesday, August 11 — here’s what you need to know to start your day.

The Big 3

1
A program-best preseason ranking for Volleyball: The defending national champions pulled the highest preseason ranking in program history, landing at No. 8 in the AVCA Coaches Poll released Monday. That tops last year’s previous best of No. 9 and slots A&M just behind No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Wisconsin and No. 3 Kentucky. The title defense opens Aug. 21 against Louisville in Milwaukee. Link
2
Three new original content series: Untold with Andrew Monaco is a monthly sit-down with Aggie greats and premieres Aug. 25 with head coach Mike Elko. Recall, hosted by Will Johnson, revisits the program’s most memorable teams and moments starting today. And Snap Count, a weekly football show co-hosted by Monaco and Johnson, breaks down each matchup every Thursday. All three will be available to watch on the 12th Man App and YouTube, and to listen on your favorite podcast networks. Link
3
Anto Saka makes the Freaks List: Every summer Bruce Feldman ranks college football’s freakiest athletes, and Saka earned a spot. The edge rusher came over from Northwestern in January with 12 career sacks and 14 tackles for loss, and now he lands on a national list of the sport’s best pure athletes. That is a rough combination for the tackles who have to block him this fall. Link

The Rundown

SOCCER: Opens the Season Wednesday at Rice

Game week is here. The Aggies open 2026 on Wednesday at Rice (6 p.m., ESPN+), and it doubles as Bobby Shuttleworth’s head-coaching debut. It kicks off an all-Texas road swing that hits Baylor on Sunday and Texas State on Aug. 19, A&M’s 15th SEC season and the first under Shuttleworth, hired in December after 14 years as an MLS goalkeeper. SOCCER: Earns 15th Straight Academic Award

Just before the opener, the soccer program picked up its 15th consecutive United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, honoring teams that clear the GPA benchmark for classroom work. It’s a decade and a half of the Aggies hitting the mark every single year. Link
