INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – The Texas A&M men's golf team opens the spring portion of its schedule Sunday with a match-play showdown against Stanford at The Vintage Club.
The one-day event features two nationally ranked programs with No. 31 Texas A&M and No. 38 Stanford squaring off in an 18-hole match-play format with eight total points available. The Aggies enter the weekend with two golfers ranked inside the top 100 nationally in No. 29 Aaron Pounds and No. 89 Wheaton Ennis.
The Vintage Club serves as the host site for Sunday's matchup, with play contested across on a championship layout in the Coachella Valley. The match will be contested over 18 holes in a match-play format with eight total points up for grabs.
Texas A&M and Stanford have met two times earlier in the season where the Aggies where six strokes behind the Cardinal in the Fighting Illini invitational and two strokes back in Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational.
COURSE
The Vintage Club in Indian Wells offers a championship desert golf setting and will host this season's match play bout on one of its two acclaimed par-72 layouts. The Mountain Course, playing 7,138 yards, is a superb Fazio design that balances playability and challenge with strategic bunkering, bent grass greens, and lush fairways set against the backdrop of the Coachella Valley. The Desert Course, a 6,515-yard par-72, is recognized by the American Society of Golf Course Architects as one of the three greatest courses built in the last 20 years. Featuring Palo Verde trees, desert cacti, and wildflowers, it delivers a visually striking and memorable January golf experience.
The Vintage Club marks the final collaboration between George and Tom Fazio and has long been regarded as one of California's premier private clubs. Nationally ranked as high as No. 190, the course enters the 2025–26 rankings at No. 200 and is ranked 23rd in California, continuing its tradition of excellence in course design and conditioning.
