Jan 29, 2026 | Softball
BIRMINGHAM – Junior infielder Mya Perez was named to the All-SEC Preseason Team, the league announced Thursday.
Perez was instrumental in helping Texas A&M reach its first No. 1 ranking and capture its first SEC Tournament title. The Corona, California, native set multiple records for the Aggies in 59 starts, tallying 73 RBI to break a 43-year-old program single-season record while slugging .804, the sixth-best mark in school history.
Perez compiled multiple SEC weekly awards and finished atop the SEC in on-base percentage (.541), fifth in batting average (.393) and seventh in slugging percentage (.721) to earn All-SEC First Team honors. The All-American added two hits, five RBIs and one home run in the SEC Tournament.
Off the field, Perez earned Academic All-America honors, becoming the fourth student-athlete in program history to do so and the first since 2008.
Perez has garnered numerous preseason accolades, including Preseason All-America recognition from D1 Softball and Softball America, and was named to the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List.
The Aggies were voted by the league's 15 head coaches to finish sixth in the SEC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Points were compiled on a descending basis, and coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
Texas A&M opens the season hosting ACU at 4:30 p.m. followed by Utah State at 7 p.m. on Feb. 5 during the Aggie Classic at Davis Diamond.
