Aggies Face Longhorns in Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown on Senior Day

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M swimming and diving teams take on the Texas Longhorns in a Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown dual meet on Senior Day at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Student Recreation Center Natatorium. The Senior Day recognition ceremony begins at 1:25 p.m.

Swimmers and divers being honored on Senior Day include Matt Aigner, Kaylee Coffey, Batuhan Filiz, Claire Gass, Giulia Goerigk, Rachel Love, Hayden Miller, Joslyn Oakley, Lydia Palmer, Corbyn Reyes, Victoria Taylor, Maximiliano Vega Cuevas and Lane White.

The Aggie divers are coming off a strong performance against the Alabama Crimson Tide last Friday. Freshman Emilio Trevino shined with a pair of top performances, winning the 1-meter dive with a score of 359.78 and the 3-meter dive with a season-best 405.00. Jaxon Bowshire added a solid showing on the 1-meter board, finishing with 318.98. On the women's side, Bridget Foster led the 1-meter competition with a score of 297.98, followed closely by Gabby Filzen (289.73) and Joslyn Oakley (286.13). Oakley also paced the field on the 3-meter board with a score of 283.95, while Foster followed with 282.68.
In the pool on the men's side, fifth-year senior Munzy Kabbara had a standout performance. Kabbara posted a lifetime-best and NCAA qualifying time in the 200 butterfly, touching in 1:43.27, while also adding a runner-up finish in the 200 backstroke in 1:41.69—another lifetime best and qualifying mark. He capped his individual efforts with a win in the 200 IM, finishing in 1:44.07. Junior Ben Scholl added a victory in the 100 free with a time of 43.46, while Logan Brown claimed the 200 breaststroke in 1:55.53.
The women's team was led by fifth-year senior Kaitlyn Owens, who logged a lifetime-best performance in the 100 backstroke, winning the event in 51.06. The swim marked the third-fastest time in program history. Junior Ava Whitaker continued her success in the butterfly events with a win in the 200 fly, finishing in 1:55.28. Hannah O'Leary added a season-best victory in the 200 breaststroke in 2:10.73, while Giulia Goerigk secured first place in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.18.
The women also improved upon their season-best relay performances, clocking a 1:36.15 in the 200 medley relay and a 3:16.88 in the 400 free relay.
