Aggies Fall to the Longhorns on Senior Day

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M swimming & diving team fell to the Texas Longhorns on Friday afternoon at the Student Recreation Center Natatorium 207-92 on the women's side and 230-70 on the men's side.
The Aggie women saw multiple top finishes in freestyle and breaststroke events. Sophomore Ella McQuinn had a strong day in the freestyle events, recording a lifetime best in her fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle before claiming first place in the 100 freestyle. She posted times of 1:46.59 in the 200 free and 48.72 in the 100 free. Senior Kaitlyn Owens also captured a victory for the Aggies, winning the 100 backstroke in 51.65. In the 200 breaststroke, junior Hannah O'Leary secured the win with a time of 2:10.85, while freshman Lillie Sczech followed closely behind with a 2:11.11 effort.
On the men's side, fifth-year senior Munzy Kabbara led the way with a pair of standout swims. He opened his day with a third-place finish in the 200 butterfly, posting a new lifetime best, before following it up with a runner-up performance in the 200 individual medley that also marked a personal best. Kabbara touched the wall in 1:42.91 in the 200 fly and 1:43.81 in the 200 IM.
Senior divers Joslyn Oakley and Matthew Aigner highlighted the day on the springboards, each having standout performances in their final home meet at the Rec Center Natatorium. Oakley posted season-best scores on both boards, finishing runner-up on the 1-meter and placing third on the 3-meter with scores of 303.45 and 330.23, respectively. On the men's side, Aigner recorded a runner-up finish on the 3-meter with a new lifetime best score of 366.15. Freshman Emilio Trevino added to the Aggies' success on the boards with a first-place finish on the men's 1-meter, scoring 350.78.
Texas A&M opened the meet with the women placing second in the 200 medley relay in 1:36.66 with the quartet of Owens, sophomore Ella McQuinn, junior Ava Whitaker, and freshman Eloise Williamson. The men finished third with the foursome of junior Logan Brown, senior Lane White, junior Ben Scholl, and sophomore Ben Sytsma touching in 1:26.80.
The Maroon & White closed out the meet with men placing third in the 400 free relay with the quartet of Sytsma, Scholl, freshman Alejandro Michelena, and Brown finishing in 2:53.42. The women also placed third in 3:18.15 with the foursome of McQuinn, Owens, Williamson, and freshman Reagan Sherrard.
