Aggies Land at No. 2 Spot in ITA Preseason Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Texas A&M women's tennis team heads into the 2026 regular season ranked No. 2 in the nation, the ITA announced Wednesday.
The Aggies are enjoying the best run in program history, including an NCAA title in 2024 and national runner-up finish in 2025. Texas A&M has four consecutive SEC titles.
Texas A&M boasts two players ranked in the ITA Top 125, including seniors Mia Kupres (No. 34) and Daria Smetannikov (No. 83). The Aggies welcomes back four of its six starters. In addition to Kupres and Smetannikov, junior Lucciana Perez and sophomore Lexington Reed are back in the fold. All-American Nicole Khirin is also working to get into peak form heading into the season.
Head coach Mark Weaver added three international newcomers, including Luciana Moyano (Argentina), Anna Perelman (Russia) and Tilde Stromquist (Sweden), along with transfer Violeta Martinez from Illinois.
The Maroon & White begin the season with a doubleheader against Tulane (11 a.m.) and Lubbock Christian (3:30 p.m.) on Friday, January 16.
