FAYETTEVILLE – The Texas A&M women’s swimming and diving team hits the road for a double dual meet against Arkansas and Illinois on Saturday, Nov. 7. Competition is set to begin at 11 a.m. in the Arkansas Natatorium.
NEWCOMER IMPACT – Texas A&M newcomers have had an immediate impact on the Aggie women’s team with first-year swimmers or divers pacing the team in nearly a dozen events on the squad’s season bests list. Leading the way is freshman swimmer Fernanda Elizondo Cabrera, who leads the team in three races – the 500 and 1,000 freestyles and 200 backstroke. Other newcomers with multiple team bests are Hannah Krueger (100, 200 free), Ella McWhorter (100 breast, 200 IM) and Sydney Guidara (1m, 3m dive). Additionally, Sophia Pero has the team’s best time in 100 fly.
VICTORY LEADERS – Through three fall competitions, Guidara leads the team with four wins, logging at least one triumph against TCU, UGA, and LSU. Other Aggies with multiple relay and individual wins are Hannah Krueger, Ella McQuinn, Hayden Miller, Hannah O’Leary, Halina Panczyszyn, Reagan Sherrard, and Katie Walker.
LAST TIME OUT –The Aggies are coming off a strong showing on the boards against the LSU Tigers earlier this month, where the women swept the top three spots in the 1- and 3-meter diving events. Guidara claimed first place in the 1-meter with a score of 279.00, while junior Bridget Foster led the way on the 3-meter board with a score of 311.40. Julie Moons finished second in both events, completing the Maroon and White’s 1-2-3 sweep.
