No. 8 Aggies Gear Up for Road Test Against Florida State
Feb 05, 2026 | Men's Tennis
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 8 Texas A&M men's tennis team faces Florida State in the Aggies' first away match of the season on Friday at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
The Aggies (5-0) are coming off two back-to-back victories against Tennessee, 4-1, and Duke, 4-2, at ITA Kickoff Weekend, where the team punched its ticket to ITA National Indoors. Sophomore Theo Papamalamis was crucial for the team's successful weekend, striking first in singles action in both matches. Both wins were in straight sets, claiming his first ranked victory of the season against then No. 121 Alejandro Moreno of Tennessee.
The No. 33 doubles tandem of Kholo Montsi and Alex Frusina have been a steady force for the Maroon & White, with a 3-0 start to dual action at the second line. The duo was first paired up against Elon and have not dropped a match since.
Florida State (6-3) is coming off a win against in-state rival Florida, 4-3. The Seminoles are currently undefeated at home this season. The all-time series is tied at two-all, with Florida State defeating the Aggies on their home courts last season, 4-2. Junior Tiago Pires was the only current Aggie to pick up a point against the Seminoles on court 4.
