Wark’s Walk-Off Grand Slam Lifts Texas A&M Past Kentucky, 10-2

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 15 Texas A&M softball team run-ruled Kentucky, 10-2, in six innings, highlighted by Micaela Wark's walk-off grand slam, Friday night at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (20-9, 3-1 SEC) tallied eight hits, while going 5-for-11 with runners on-base. Micaela Wark and Kelsey Mathis highlighted the night, going a combined 5-for-6, while Wark drove in four runs and Mathis scored two. Kennedy Powell, Paislie Allen and Frankie Vrazel added singles, while Mya Perez walked in all four plate appearances.
Sidne Peters (8-3) earned the win on the rubber, slinging 5.0 innings with eight strikeouts while allowing two runs on three hits. The right-handed junior faced 19 Wildcats and held opposing batters to a .158 average.
The Maroon & White broke the ice after two scoreless frames with a pair of walks followed by a sacrifice RBI from sophomore Ariel Kowalewski to give the Aggies an early 1-0 lead.
Texas A&M doubled its lead after Kelsey Mathis led the fourth frame with a single and scored on the ensuing at-bat when Paislie Allen reached second on a throwing error as Mathis scored. The Aggies added another run after Kennedy Powell scored Allen on a sacrifice fly to lead 3-0.
Kentucky (20-10, 1-6 SEC) responded the following inning with a two-run home run to cut the deficit to one.
The Maroon & White added three insurance runs on three hits, highlighted by Allen's two-run single to right center to extend A&M's lead to 6-2 through five innings.
The Aggies continued by loading the bases for Wark's game-ending grand slam to right center.

- Junior Mya Perez and senior Kennedy Powell reached base safely to extend their nation-leading on-base streaks to 32 games.
- Perez has walked in eight straight plate appearances, earning four walks tonight and four against LSU in Monday's series finale.
- Powell scored two runs, marking her 12th game this season with multiple runs. Texas A&M improved to 10-2 when she scores multiple runs.
- Sophomore Kelsey Mathis matched her career-high three hits.
