
Three Aggies Selected to Opening Day Rosters

COLLEGE STATION – A trio of former Texas A&M aces were named to Opening Day rosters ahead of the 2026 Major League Baseball season.
The Aggies will be represented by Brooks Raley (New York Mets), Christian Roa (Houston Astros) and Michael Wacha (Kansas City Royals). All three players begin the 2026 campaign with prior big league experience.

Brooks Raley | RP | New York Mets
Raley is set to break camp for his fourth season as a member of the Mets organization and his ninth as a big leaguer. After undergoing Tommy John surgery following eight outings in 2024, Raley bounced back in 2025, making 30 relief appearances with a 2.45 ERA. The southpaw posted a 3-1 record, a 0.78 WHIP, 14 holds, and punched out 25 batters while only issuing six walks in 25.2 innings pitched.
Across his career, Raley has logged a 3.88 ERA, 278 strikeouts, 197 holds and 12 saves in 257 appearances.
Christian Roa | RP | Houston Astros
A native of Houston, Texas, Roa is slated to make the first Opening Day roster of his career for his hometown ballclub. The righty made his major league debut on September 6, 2025, with the Miami Marlins. In two appearances with Miami last season, Roa tossed 3.0 shutout innings and struck out three. He signed a minor league deal with the Astros organization in the offseason and earned his way onto the big league roster after posting a 0.93 ERA and 13 strikeouts in nine relief outings during Houston's spring training slate.
Michael Wacha | SP | Kansas City Royals
Wacha is entering his third season with the Royals organization and the 14th of his major league career. In 31 starts last season, the righty registered a 3.86 ERA in 172.2 innings. He punched out 126 batters and logged a 1.22 WHIP while limiting opposing batters to a .252 batting average. Throughout his career, Wacha owns a 111-75 record to compliment a 3.89 ERA and 1,416 strikeouts in 309 outings.
The former Aggie ace is scheduled to make his first start of the 2026 campaign on Saturday against the Atlanta Braves.
