BIRMINGHAM – The Southeastern Conference announced Meagan Braun of equestrian and Ethan Silva of men's tennis as Texas A&M's winners of the Brad Davis SEC Community Service Award.
The school award winners will each receive a $7,500 post-graduate scholarship provided by the SEC and are nominees for the Male and Female Brad Davis Community Service Leaders of the Year.
Braun has built an extensive record of service throughout her time in Aggieland. She has consistently been serving biweekly in children's ministry at Christland Church, tutoring children in foster care through the WHIT Program and volunteering for nearly a decade with the Elizabeth (Colo.) Stampede Rodeo to assist attendees with disabilities.
In addition, she has participated in The Big Event each of the past three years, completed a mission trip with Mission of Hope to the Dominican Republic and served as a Texas A&M peer notetaker to support students registered with the disability center.
Following graduation, Braun will continue her academic and service journey at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, where she plans to pursue a master's degree in athletic training and a doctorate in physical therapy.
In the arena, Braun posted a 10-5 record, earning two MOP honors while helping the Aggies capture the SEC Championship and finish as national runners up. She was named to the All-Championship Team and earned Academic All-America honors, highlighting her success both athletically and in the classroom.
"Being selected as a recipient of the Brad Davis SEC Community Service Award is one of the most meaningful honors of my time at Texas A&M," Braun said. "Serving within this community has shaped who I am and deepened my commitment to living a life rooted in service. Being connected to Brad Davis' legacy and past recipients is a true privilege. I am grateful for the people who have poured into me, and I look forward to carrying these lessons with me as I pursue physical therapy school and continue serving others with purpose, intention and dedication."
Silva, who serves as the Vice President of Student-Athlete Experience for the Texas A&M Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, earned his spot on the SEC Community Service team for the second straight season.
The Harlingen, Texas, native also serves his local community at the Aggieland Humane Society, where he helps take care of the animals during their stay at the shelter while they wait for adoption. He also spends his time at local elementary schools, where he reads books to children to help promote the importance of education at a young age.
On the courts, Silva has posted a 10-2 singles record this season. Last fall, he won the ITA Texas Regional consolation bracket, along with winning his singles flight at the Waco Fall Kickoff Classic. Silva earned his bachelor's degree in agricultural leadership and development last December and is now working on a master's in entrepreneurial leadership at Texas A&M.
"This is such a high honor to receive the Brad Davis Community Service Award," Silva said. "This award is a prestigious accolade, and I hope to embody selfless service and reflect the values of this award every day. To me, this award goes along with a quote I live by, 'When one door closes, another one opens.' This has opened a huge door for me as I continue my education at Texas A&M. Being an Aggie and accepting this honor as a representative of Texas A&M, a university that means so much to me, is a privilege I do not take lightly."
The male and female Brad Davis Community Service Leaders of the Year will be announced later in May. Each winner will receive a $15,000 post-graduate scholarship provided by the SEC.
