
Grahovac, Sorrell Tabbed Golden Spikes Award Semifinalists

CARY, N.C. – Texas A&M's Gavin Grahovac and Caden Sorrell were named semifinalists for the 2026 Golden Spikes Award, as announced by USA Baseball Thursday afternoon.
Fan voting will again play a part in the Golden Spikes Award in 2026. Baseball fans can vote for their favorite players on GoldenSpikesAward.com, beginning today with the naming of the semifinalists. USA Baseball will announce the finalists for the award on June 10, and fan voting will once again open at GoldenSpikesAward.com to help determine the winner before closing on June 28.
The duo is the first pair of Aggie teammates to be named semifinalists for the award since Jace LaViolette and Braden Montgomery in 2024. Texas A&M is one of four schools in the country to have two representatives on the list.
Grahovac has powered the Aggies' offense in 49 starts this season, leading the club in multiple offensive categories, including batting average (.354), RBI (68), runs scored (65), hits (70), doubles (15) and triples (3). The Orange, California, native also leads the squad with 23 multi-hit and 19 multi-RBI performances. His 68 RBI on the season are second in the SEC and ninth nationally. With 42 home runs as an Aggie, Grahovac is tied for seventh-most on Texas A&M's all-time leaderboard.
In SEC play, Grahovac leads the league in slugging percentage (.743), RBI (40), runs scored (35) and home runs (11). His 1.164 OPS in league play ranks second among the conference.
Sorrell has registered a career year in his junior campaign with the Aggies, setting personal bests in hits (66), runs scored (59), RBI (65), home runs (22), doubles (15), walks (28) and stolen bases (10). His 22 long balls on the year are the sixth-most in a single season, while his 45 career homers are fifth all-time at Texas A&M. The lefty's .758 slugging percentage leads the club and is second among all SEC hitters.
In 47 starts this season, Sorrell has logged 21 multi-hit and 18 multi-RBI performances. Nationally, Sorrell ranks eighth in home runs and is tied for 15th in RBI. The Highland Village, Texas, native is one of 10 players to be named a semifinalist after being tabbed to the preseason and midseason watch lists.
Since 1978, USA Baseball has honored the most outstanding amateur baseball player in the nation with the Golden Spikes Award. The award is given each year to the player who best exhibits exceptional on-field ability, exemplary sportsmanship and character, and an overall positive contribution to the sport.
The 48th Golden Spikes Award will be presented on June 29 on MLB Network at 6:30 p.m. CT.
