COLLEGE STATION – No. 7 Texas A&M claimed the series finale against No. 8 Auburn, 4-3, Sunday afternoon from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
Weston Moss (4-2) earned his second conference win after dealing a career-high 6.1 innings of one-run ball. The Spring, Texas, native punched out six batters, tying the most he has had in a conference game this season. He allowed just two baserunners in the contest, one of which reached on a dropped third strike. Ethan Darden entered first in relief, allowing one hit and recording a lone strikeout. Clayton Freshcorn followed in the seventh inning and closed the game, earning his 11th save of the season.
The Aggies (35-10, 15-8) got on the board first in the opening frame after an RBI groundout from Chris Hacopian sent Gavin Grahovac across the plate.
After singles from Boston Kellner and Caden Sorrell in the sixth inning, Hacopian launched a long ball to deep left field, giving the Aggies a four-run advantage. The junior's sixth home run of the season traveled 402 feet and left the bat at 102 miles per hour.
The Tigers (32-14, 14-10) were able to scratch a run in the seventh inning to make it a 4-1 contest. The visitors plated two runs late in the ninth, but Freshcorn induced a game-ending double play to secure the win.
