Jace Hutchins, a former Texas A&M right-handed pitcher and 2024 graduate, joined the staff in the summer of 2024 as the director of pitching and program development. In his role, Hutchins’ brings a unique blend of first-hand playing experience and advanced coaching expertise.
While serving as a student assistant during the Aggies historic 2024 run to the College World Series Finals, Hutchins helped the pitching staff become one of the best in the nation. The Maroon & White led the country in shutouts and ranked inside the top 10 in ERA, strikeout-to-walk ratio, strikeouts per nine innings and WHIP. Additionally, Texas A&M set a program record for strikeouts in a season and matched the school mark for shutouts.
Hutchins is highly regarded for his expertise in pitch design and player development, utilizing cutting-edge technology such as Trackman, Edgertronic cameras and advanced analytics to optimize pitchers' arsenals. He works closely with the analytics team to blend data-driven insights with his own deep knowledge of pitching mechanics and strategy, ensuring each pitcher reaches their full potential.
Hutchins’, who joined Texas A&M’s program in 2023, playing career was cut short due to injury. In 2023, he was named the Marion Pugh Spirit Award, which is given to the player most exemplifying team unity and who provides valuable leadership both on and off the field.
