Scott Johnston is in his fourth year as the Aggies’ Director of On-Campus Recruiting after spending the previous four seasons assisting with the football recruiting efforts at Nebraska and Kansas.
Since Johnston’s arrival the Aggies’ two signing classes have both been ranked among the top 10 in the nation by Rivals.com. The 2014 signing class was ranked No. 6, while the 2015 class was rated No. 10 nationally.
Johnston was hired at Texas A&M in 2013 after spending two years at the University of Kansas -- his first season as the On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator and the second as the Director of Personnel.
In both positions, Johnston was responsible for the development, implementation and execution of the Jayhawks’ football recruiting plan.
Also among his duties at Kansas were the management of the roster in regard to NCAA eligibility and compliance, serving at the program’s NFL liaison and building relationships between prospects, high school coaches and the Kansas staff.
Prior to his time at Kansas, Johnston served as the recruiting operations intern for football at Nebraska for two season. He also served as a student recruiting assistant for the Cornhuskers. Johnston graduated from NU with a bachelor’s degree in biology in December 2008.
A native of Papillion, Neb., Johnston is married to the former Ashley Metzler.
