Dave Good joined the Texas A&M men’s basketball staff in the summer of 2025 as an assistant coach. Good arrived in Aggieland after 10 seasons on head coach Bucky McMillan’s staff at both Samford and Mountain Brook.
During his five seasons at Samford, Good served as an assistant coach from 2023-25 after initially being hired as the director of player development and scouting in 2020. With Good on staff, the Bulldogs posted four straight 20-win seasons, won three Southern Conference championships and advanced to the postseason twice.
Good arrived at Samford after serving as an assistant coach on McMillan’s staff at Mountain Brook High School from 2015-20. He helped lead the Spartans to three 7A state titles (2019, 2018, 2017), one 7A runner-up (2020), and an overall record of 152-22. During his time at Mountain Brook, the Spartans eclipsed the 30-win mark four times including a 34-3 record in 2018, while ranking No. 17 in the USA Today national rankings and a 31-3 record in 2019 while ranking No. 5 in the USA Today national rankings.
Prior to his time at Mountain Brook, Good taught physical education and coached basketball at Thompson High School and Thompson Middle School from 2012-15.
From 2007 to 2012, Good was a video coordinator at UAB as the Blazers notched four straight 20-win seasons, four postseason appearances (NCAA-2011; NIT-2010, 2009, 2008) and a 107-57 overall record, claiming a CUSA Conference Championship in 2011. Good also served as a graduate assistant at Eastern Michigan from 2005-07.
Good began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Shepherd High School in Michigan from 2004 to 2005, helping lead the team to a 19-2 record and a conference title.
Good earned a bachelors degree in sports studies from Central Michigan in 2004 and later added a master’s in sport management from Eastern Michigan in 2010 and a master’s in education from UAB in 2012.
Good and his wife, Lucy have two daughters, Addie Mae and Evie Kate.
